Very little is known of this Joshua Shiles except that, importantly for this analysis, he is living very near Jesse Shiles in the 1800 census for Broad Creek Hundred, Sussex Co., DE with household as 00001-00001. This would place him as older than age 45 (birth year before 1755). See notes under Thomas Shiles (born bef 1709) for reasons we place Joshua/Jesse Shiles as son/grandson of Thomas Shiles in Delaware.
Further, Jesse born 1760-65 and Elias born 1766 are situated very close to one another in Broad Creek Hundred and are no doubt close relations - so each is placed under the Thomas Shiles (born before 1709) lineage.
