From "A Hitch Orchard", Daisy Hitch Davies, 1931: I corresponded with Sarah Frances Hitch James but never met her. At the time of my correspondence with her I was so keenly interested in genealogy and for that reason did not secure as much data from her as I might have. In 1900 I met her daughter Katie in Falmouth, MA. It was Katie who has since sent me dates of her family. For a time Mrs. James resided in New Orleans, LA. At one time the family were in Brookline, MA. Last known address was Roxbury, MA. All the daughters were well educated. One daughter was a librarian. Another was married and her husband conducted a clothing store in Syracuse, NY. (Mayflower ?? Clothing Store)
Sarah married William Griffith James, son of James James and Rosanna Becca, on 27 Feb 1873 in Orleans Parish, LA.1 (William Griffith James was born in Aug 1850 in LA 10 and died in 1901-1909 in LA.)
