Born Benjamin Alvin Johnson on December 23, 1887, in Wango, Wicomico County, Maryland. Son of Rufus and Tabitha Wise Davis Johnson. Attended Wicomico County public schools; Washington College, 1911; Baltimore Law School, 1912. Admitted to the Maryland bar, February 3, 1913. Married to Ethel Holloway; six children. Died October 22, 1943, in Salisbury, Maryland. Buried at Parsons Cemetery, Salisbury, Maryland.
