Pearl Edna Washburn's obituary appeared in the December 1, 1965 Daily Times (Salisbury) and states that she died Monday (Nov 29 1965) at age 53, wife of Peter Linwood Smack of Eden and daughter of the late Edward and Maybell Hitch Washburn. She was survivived by four daughters: Mrs. Carroll J. Long and Mrs. Roland Horner of Salisbury, Mrs Charles Norman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Mrs. James White of Akron, OH. Four surviving sons were Edward and Sydney Smack, David James and Peter Linwood Smack Jr. She was also survived by four brothers; Elwood Washburn, Reuben, Alvin Washington and Robert Washburn.
