bullet  General Notes:

In the June 1788 Worcester Orphan's court, it assigned Lazarus Maddus of Lazarus (age 7 on Sep 12 last), guardian George Pusey (as Pewsey) and Sophia his wife. This indicates that Sophia (Greer) (Maddux) Pusey had married George Pusey prior to Jun 1788. (WoOCP-JW15:448)

On Aug 2 1793, Sophia Pewsey (late Sophia Maddux), executrix of Lazarus Maddux, presented a 2nd accounting of his estate amounting in 140.19.52. It added debt collected from Aaron Tilghman and subtracted money paid to Levin Handy (Register of Wills), commissions allowed the accountant, which resulted in a balance of 145.9.2. She made oath (as Sophia Puzey) on Nov 23 1794. (WoAA-1792/96:106,207)

In the Aug 1802 Orphan's Court, there was a register to strike distribution of the estate of William Maddux between Lazarus, Elzey and Thomas Maddux, John Pusey and Mary his wife and George Pusey and Sophia his wife, mother of the deceased William. (WoOCP-JBR9:26)

On Nov 2 1804, Elzey Maddux, son of Lazarus, and Sophia Puzey, widow of Lazarus Maddux, sold 50a of land in the tract "Florida" to Stephen Townsend for 33 (WoLR-W:114).

Sophia married Lazarus Maddux, son of Thomas Maddux and Unknown, about 1769 in Worcester Co., MD. (Lazarus Maddux was born about 1744 in Somerset Co., MD and died 16 Jul 1784-13 Jan 1786 in Worcester Co., MD.)

Sophia next married George Pusey, son of John Pusey and Rebekah Lankford, in 1787-1788 in Worcester Co., MD. (George Pusey was born on 28 Nov 1746 in Somerset Co., MD 398 and died after 1791.)
