From "A Hitch Orchard" by Daisy Hitch Davies, 1931, it indicates, "In the History of Gibson County, Indiana, we find record of "Sovern" Hitch in which it states he had been of Bridgeville, Delaware, and he was the owner and had been the proprietor of the "BULLS EYE", a famous tavern which he conducted until his death."
In the 1807 Tax Assessment records for Sussex County, "Suverin" Hitch is listed in Northwest Fork Hundred with: capitulation 1 horse This is his first occurance in the tax records with the previous records in 1803. This suggests a birth year of 1783-1786.
