In Feb 15 1840, John and Mahala Stuart, widow of Peter Stuart deceased, of the village of Concord, Sussex Co. sold for $10 to Thomas Adams, three lots in Concord; Lots 151, 152, 153 adjoining Lot 150, now in the possession of John and Mahala Stuart. (SxLR)
1850 census states he was a sailor. He is not listed in the 1860 Census with his wife and children. This indicates he probably died after 1850 and before 1860. However, his son John Michael Stuart (perhaps a junior??) was born in 1854 suggesting a death year for Capt. J.M. Stuart at c1854.
John married Mary H. Baker, daughter of Thomas* Baker and Nancy (?), on 31 Aug 1840 in Sussex Co., DE.1 (Mary H. Baker was born on 12 Oct 1819 in Sussex Co., DE,3 4 5 6 died on 01 Oct 1890 in Wilmington, New Castle Co., DE 7 and was buried about 04 Oct 1890 in Riverview Cemetery, Wilmington, New Castle Co., DE.)
