John Carey was named in the settlement of his brother's estate on 3 May 1704 at Sussex Co, DE. It was on this date that Lidia Carey, widow and admx of Edward Carey dec'd, came into court and made complaint against John Carey in that he hath kept the effects of the dec'd under a pretence of a debt due to him from his said brother in his lifetime, but yet refuses to prove the debt. John was named in his brother's will on 28 February 1722/23 at Somerset Co, MD. He was shown as my brother John in the will of Richard Carey.
John made a will on 15 September 1723 at Sussex Co, DE. Heirs: wife Bridget, sons Samuel, Thomas & William and daughter Mary. Wife Bridget to be Extr. Witt: Ebenezer Jones, Abraham Inloss & Phillip Askie. He died before 18 November 1723 at Sussex Co, DE. It was on this date that his will was probated
