John Smith Sr. leased land on 26 September 1795 at St. George Parish, Accomack Co, VA. John Smith farm lets to John Carmine, both of St. George Parish, a tract of land in St. George Parish known as Tysers Field for a term of 10 years to start on 1 Jan 1796, John Carmine paying John Smith 2/5 of all the corn, fodder, wheat, oats, peas, beans, flax, brandy, tobacco & potatoes that shall be made on the said plantation each year and Carmine will not cut more fire wood than needed. Witt: Thomas Rodgers and William Guy. Recorded 29 Dec 1795.

John made a will on 4 November 1823 at Accomack Co, VA. In his will John Smith Sr. gave son Thomas H. Smith the money he owes me & as much more as will make $100. To son John J. Smith $100 & Negro woman Reaner & Negro boy Samuel. To grandson Thomas S. Joynes $100, but his mother-in-law is to have the interest until he is age 21. To daughter Agnes Warrington ... To daughter Margaret Joynes ... Balance to daughters Agnes Warrington & Margaret Joynes. Son John J. Smith Extr. Witt: Ann S. Warrington, James Eichelberger & William F. Eichelberger.
