General Notes: From a letter from Dorothy Hitch of Centralia, Washington, dated March 22, 1997: "Robert William Hitch left England at the age of 16 and worked his passage to the U.S. by ship. We don't know how long that took - if it took a year, he would have landed about 1883."

Moved from Dickinson Co., Kansas to Woodward Co., Oklahoma sometime between 1905 and 1906.

Robert married Esther Christina JOHNSON on 1 Jan 1897 in Fact, KS.¹ Esther was born on 8 Dec 1875 in Clay Center, KS ^{1 4 5 6} and died on 22 Aug 1957 in Centralia, WA ^{1 6} at age 81.
